Job Description
Hardware engineering activities support development of FAA Level D Full Flight Simulator hardware for the company’s Air & Commercial Solutions program. Responsibilities include hardware design and development for power and control systems, motion platform integration, visual display systems, avionics interfaces, and ancillary equipment, along with integration of simulator hardware with existing building infrastructure.

- Education & Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or related field
- Experience developing flight simulation hardware solutions on programs
- Demonstrated knowledge of industry practices and related disciplines through active development of new mechanical design engineering principles
- Issue formal design checking approvals or non-conformance reports through the PLM tool
- Develop and generate CREO layouts and detailed drawings for ICDs, components, sub-assemblies, assemblies, and integration test articles
- Create HW architectural layouts for system and lower-level interfaces between systems and subsystems
- Derive Hardware and sub-tier requirements from customer requirements
- Build BOMs, create parts, assemblies, and design documentation
- Support cross-functional teams through major technical reviews throughout the acquisition lifecycle, including SRR, PDR, CDR, and TRR
- Apply Hardware Engineering processes in an Agile environment
- 9+ years of experience with BOM, Flight Simulation, and Simulation
- Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, or maintenance manuals
- Preferred Skills
- Experience with Windchill, Creo, Catia, Zuken, and Cameo
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing in accordance with ASME Y14.5
- Ability to perform complex system-level tolerance analysis
- Knowledge of generating hardware architecture, high-level interconnects, and deriving requirements from customer and system-level flowdowns
- Prior experience in the development, integration, and deployment of flight training systems
- Experience leveraging Agile tenets in the development of software-intensive systems, including Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Hardware, and Test Engineering work products
- Experience adapting hardware designs to existing climate control systems to ensure temperature/humidity stability for avionics and motion platforms
- Experience interfacing with the facility’s existing fire detection and suppression infrastructure
- Product design experience in the context of modular open systems architectures, such as SOA
- Experience with Rotary and/or Fixed Wing Aircraft
- Experience with full motion simulators
- Job Duties & Functions
- Complete hardware design and development activities for power and control systems, motion platform integration, visual display systems, avionics interfaces, and ancillary equipment
- Manage end-to-end integration of new simulator hardware with existing building infrastructure, including HVAC, electrical distribution, grounding, and fire and smoke monitoring systems
- Lead other Hardware Engineers while synchronizing engineering, procurement, production planning, manufacturing, and supplier activities
- Develop innovative solutions to complex problems consistent with program objectives
