Electrophysics Engineer 2

Job Description

Supports the development and validation of requirements, architectures, trade studies, modeling and simulation, testing, and analysis for electro-optical, laser, sensor, and other electromagnetic systems and components. The work also includes supporting product lifecycle activities, resolving engineering issues, preparing project status information, and performing some work in a cleanroom environment.

• Education & Job Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with typically 2+ years of work-related experience
• Education or work experience in Electro-Optics
• Experience with Electro-Optical systems, including producing specifications, tolerances, simulations, assembly, integration, and testing of fiber-optic sensors, systems, and components
• Experience in laser and electro-optical systems and optical communication systems requirements development, integration, testing, and analysis
• Willingness and ability to relocate to Albuquerque, NM at own expense if not already within commuting distance
• Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, or maintenance manuals

• Preferred Skills
• Experience effectively communicating and collaborating on multi-discipline teams
• Experience in electro-optical design and analysis using Zemax, CodeV, or an equivalent software design package
• Experience performing analysis on EO/IR systems

• Job Duties & Functions
• Assist in developing and validating requirements for electro-optical systems, sensors, lasers, and other electromagnetic systems and components
• Develop architectures to integrate multiple systems into higher-level systems and platforms
• Perform trade studies, modeling, simulation, and other forms of analysis to predict component, interconnect, and system performance and optimize designs around complex requirements
• Assist in designing complex electro-optical and laser systems
• Develop new and improved modeling and simulation techniques
• Assist in developing and implementing critical tests to validate performance of designs against requirements
• Support product lifecycle activities with guidance and engineering support to resolve complex issues
• Prepare and present project status data
• Perform work in a clean room environment

• Physical Requirements & Environment
• Work fully onsite in Albuquerque, NM
• Perform some work in a clean room environment
• Work a full-time first shift schedule
• Travel domestically less than 10% of the time
