Job Description

Develop and integrate hardware solutions for a full-flight simulator, including power and control systems, motion platform integration, visual display systems, avionics interfaces, and ancillary equipment. Coordinate hardware integration with existing facility infrastructure while supporting engineering, procurement, production planning, manufacturing, suppliers, and major technical reviews throughout the acquisition lifecycle.

    • Education & Job Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related field
    • Flight Simulation

    • Develop new mechanical design engineering principles and apply industry practices and related disciplines
    • Issue formal design checking approvals or non-conformance reports through the PLM tool
    • Generate CREO layouts and detailed drawings for ICDs, components, subassemblies, assemblies, and integration test articles
    • Create hardware architectural layouts for system and lower-level interfaces between systems and subsystems
    • Derive hardware and sub-tier requirements from customer requirements
    • Build BOMs and create parts, assemblies, and design documentation
    • Support cross-functional teams through major technical reviews, including SRR, PDR, CDR, and TRR
    • Apply Hardware Engineering processes in an Agile environment
    • Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
    • Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, or maintenance manuals
    • Preferred Skills
    • Experience with Windchill, Creo, Catia, Zuken, and Cameo
    • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing in accordance with ASME Y14.5 and experience performing complex system-level tolerance analysis
    • Knowledge of hardware architecture, high-level interconnects, and requirements derivation from customer and system-level flow-downs
    • Prior experience developing, integrating, and deploying flight training systems
    • Experience leveraging Agile tenets in development of software-intensive systems, including Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Hardware, and Test Engineering work products
    • Experience adapting hardware designs to existing climate control systems to support temperature and humidity stability for avionics and motion platforms
    • Experience interfacing with existing fire detection and suppression infrastructure
    • Product design experience involving modular open systems architectures
    • Experience with rotary and/or fixed-wing aircraft
    • Experience with full-motion simulators
    • Job Duties & Functions
    • Complete hardware design and development activities for power and control systems, motion platform integration, visual display systems, avionics interfaces, and ancillary equipment
    • Manage end-to-end integration of simulator hardware with existing building infrastructure, including HVAC, electrical distribution, grounding, and fire and smoke monitoring systems
    • Lead Hardware Engineers while synchronizing engineering, procurement, production planning, manufacturing, and supplier activities
    • Develop innovative solutions to complex technical problems consistent with program objectives
    • Support major technical reviews throughout the acquisition lifecycle
    • Coordinate hardware development activities across cross-functional engineering organizations and suppliers
