Job Description

Supports production engineering activities by developing and implementing equipment and tooling solutions for aerospace manufacturing. This role interfaces directly with production teams to improve processes, ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, and support tooling design, fabrication, and deployment. Responsibilities include creating specifications, managing vendor procurement, supporting design reviews, and developing maintenance and training documentation.

    • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry (e.g., Bachelor’s degree) and typically 2 or more years of related work experience (e.g., Master’s degree). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. through advanced technical education.
    • A minimum of 1 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    • 3 or more years of hands-on experience as a Pressure Vessel Design Engineer.
    • 2 or more years of Project Management experience.
    • Working knowledge of ASME Section VIII and related ASME/ANSI codes.
    • Strong knowledge of NBIC codes Part 1, 2, 3, and 4.
    • Application of piping codes such as ASME B31.1 and/or B31.3.
    • Strong understanding of pressure vessel fabrication processes and maintenance procedures.
    • Strong understanding of material mechanics and behavior under extreme temperatures and vibration conditions.
    • Strong understanding of non-destructive examination procedures such as magnetic particle examination and ultrasonic testing.
    • Knowledge of welding procedures and testing requirements.
    • Experience applying thermodynamics and fluid mechanics principles.
    • Hands-on experience designing autoclaves for composite curing processes.
    • Experience designing quick actuating closures or breech lock door mechanisms.
    • 5 or more years of 3D modeling experience.
    • 5 or more years of GD&T experience.
    • Job Duties & Functions
    • Investigate and develop equipment and tooling concepts and specifications to support aerospace product design and build requirements.
    • Perform tool liaison activities to support tool fabrication and production use.
    • Participate in design reviews, collect requirements, and create or revise drawings and models to support build plans.
    • Create specifications and purchase requests for new equipment and tooling from external vendors.
    • Ensure designs comply with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic, and regulatory requirements.
    • Develop and document inspection procedures, usage instructions, preventative maintenance plans, and user training materials.
    • Manage budgets and schedules to deliver equipment and tooling solutions.
    • Interface directly with production personnel and support manufacturing operations on the production floor.
    • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

    • Ability to stand and walk on the production floor for extended periods up to 8 hours.
    • Ability to climb ladders or stairs to access equipment.
    • Ability to work at heights or in confined spaces.
    • Must wear required personal protective equipment.
