Material Handler

Job Description

The Material Handler loads, unloads, moves, and organizes materials within or near a plant, yard, or work site. Responsibilities may include shipping and receiving activities, recording material information, operating material-handling equipment, and assisting machine operators with moving heavy objects.

• Education & Job Requirements
• Bachelor of Science degree
• 1-3 years of work-related experience
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language

• Job Duties & Functions
• Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, conveyors, machines, and trucks
• Open containers using hand tools
• Count and weigh materials and record related information
• Move materials using wheelbarrows, hand trucks, forklifts, electric dollies, elevators, or other equipment
• Stack or assemble materials as directed
• Assist machine operators by lifting heavy objects manually or using power hoists
• Perform shipping and receiving tasks as assigned

• Ability to lift and move heavy objects manually or with the assistance of power hoists
