Systems Engineer

Job Description

Performs systems engineering activities involving technical planning, integration, verification and validation, cost and risk analysis, and system supportability across the product lifecycle. Translates customer and product requirements into system solutions while considering technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Within the Test Solutions Business area, supports the Automated Test Equipment (ATE) branch by developing and tracing requirements, contributing to system architectures, and preparing performance specifications and interface control documents. Additional responsibilities include conducting obsolescence trade studies, authoring integration and test documentation, troubleshooting equipment, and executing tests.

• Education & Job Requirements
• Bachelors degree in an engineering-related field
• 5+ years of work experience
• Test equipment design experience
• Background in testing and development
• Proficiency with DOORS requirements management
• Experience developing and executing test plans
• Knowledge of hardware integration
• Requirements development experience
• Systems analysis and design skills
• Experience with validation test plans
• Strong leadership skills
• Ability to read and interpret hardware design drawings and parts lists
• Understanding of U.S. government calibration standards

• Job Duties & Functions
• Perform systems engineering activities within the Test Solutions Business area and Automated Test Equipment (ATE) branch
• Develop requirements based on customer proposals and engineering changes
• Analyze requirements and maintain traceability
• Use DOORS/DOORS Next to manage requirements
• Contribute to the development of systems architectures
• Prepare performance specifications and interface control documents
• Work with COTS-based ATE instruments, including digital multimeters, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, power supplies, and loads
• Conduct obsolescence trade studies
• Prepare integration and test documentation
• Troubleshoot equipment and execute tests
• Conduct functional and timeline analyses, trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies
• Translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications while accounting for technical, schedule, and cost constraints
