Design Engineer

Job Description

Will design major components, functional systems, and technically advanced products while supporting product development and manufacturing operations. Responsibilities include preparing preliminary layouts and design proposals, evaluating manufacturability, material availability, interchangeability, strength-to-weight efficiency, specifications, and cost. The role also involves coordinating with affected organizations, creating assembly layouts and detailed part designs, reviewing drawings for accuracy and compliance, and recommending design revisions to address errors or deficiencies.

• Education & Job Requirements
• 3+ years of Creo design experience and
• 4-6 years of experience creating finished 3D models and 3D models
• 2+ years of experience with Windchill PLM/PDM
• 2-4 years of experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• 2+ years of experience with complex mechanical/electrical concepts
• Experience with mechanical primary and secondary structures
• 1+ year of experience in concept development and 1+ year of experience preparing design review content
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language

• Preferred Skills
• Experience with Model-Based Definition (MBD)

• Job Duties & Functions
• Design major components, portions of functional systems, and technically advanced prototypes or products
• Develop or improve products and support manufacturing operations
• Prepare preliminary design data, layouts, sketches, and notes to communicate design proposals
• Evaluate manufacturability, material and equipment availability, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-to-weight efficiency, contractual specifications, and cost
• Coordinate design development with other affected organizations
• Create assembly layouts and detail parts for devices, mechanisms, structures, and products
• Review completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, standards compliance, specification adherence, and accuracy of calculations and dimensions
• Identify design errors, omissions, and deficiencies, and recommend revisions or improvements to responsible engineers or designers
