Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

Focuses on satellite bus structures design, including updating 3D CAD models of spacecraft structures using PTC Creo Parametric. Responsibilities include creating and releasing engineering drawings and annotated 3D models using GD&T principles, as well as managing engineering drawing releases through a Product Data Management System. The position also involves analyzing engineering sketches, specifications, and drawings to determine design factors and evaluating mechanical design considerations related to equipment, components, and manufacturing systems.

• Education & Job Requirements
• Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college in a related discipline, or a combination of education and experience
• Mechanical design knowledge and experience interpreting engineering design drawings
• Knowledge of engineering CAD tools such as Creo and SolidWorks, along with model-based product definition
• Understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, including structures, mechanisms, materials, and analysis
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience in structural design
• 4-6 years of experience with 3-D Models, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Engineering Design Principles, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Ability and desire to assume ownership of tasks and drive them to closure quickly and efficiently
• Experience with engineering data product release processes within an Engineering Product Data Management (EPDM) system
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language

• Preferred Skills
• Experience updating 3D CAD models of spacecraft structures using PTC Creo Parametric
• Experience creating and releasing engineering drawings and annotated 3D models
• Familiarity with Product Data Management Systems and engineering drawing release workflows
• Knowledge of mechanical equipment design, manufacturing systems, and material-handling equipment
• Ability to work onsite in Littleton/Waterton, Colorado, with remote or teleworking arrangements negotiable depending on circumstances

• Update 3D CAD models of spacecraft structures using PTC Creo Parametric
• Create and release engineering drawings and annotated 3D models using GD&T principles
• Manage engineering drawing releases through a Product Data Management System
• Analyze engineering sketches, specifications, related data, and drawings to determine design factors such as part size, shape, and arrangement
• Evaluate mechanical design considerations involving structures, mechanisms, materials, and analysis
• Analyze test data to determine the effects of design on machine performance, including temperature, pressure, speed, horsepower, and fuel consumption
• Support engineering design and documentation activities related to satellite bus structures
• Take ownership of assigned tasks and drive them to completion efficiently
