Job Description

Perform advanced upholstery fabrication, sewing, and installation for VIP aircraft completion projects. Fabricate and install aircraft seats, cushions, trim panels, carpeting, and other interior components in accordance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and applicable regulatory requirements. Support production efficiency through troubleshooting, material coordination, documentation compliance, and technical guidance for junior technicians.

    • Education & Job Requirements
    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
    • 6+ years of upholstery, sewing, or aircraft interior fabrication experience preferred.
    • Advanced knowledge of aircraft upholstery fabrication processes within a corporate aviation or aircraft completions environment.
    • Advanced proficiency in upholstery fabrication techniques, including foam shaping, sewing, pattern alignment, and leather installation.
    • Strong understanding of Comlux Repair Station Quality Manual (RSQM) procedures and FAA regulatory requirements related to aircraft interior fabrication and installation.
    • Working knowledge of computers and software systems utilized by the company.
    • Demonstrated craftsmanship and attention to detail when fabricating high-end VIP aircraft interiors.
    • Proficiency in mentoring junior technicians and supporting team productivity.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills when working with production teams, supervisors, engineering, and quality personnel.
    • Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
    • Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, or maintenance manuals

    • Job Duties & Functions
    • Prepare upholstered surfaces for foam and covering using hand tools in accordance with approved company procedures; clean adhesive residue from panels and remove materials from parts as required.
    • Execute advanced sewing operations and modifications to seat covers, curtains, cushions, and other upholstery components using industrial sewing machines and specialized upholstery tools.
    • Fabricate and upholster aircraft interior components, including seats, cushions, trim panels, and soft goods, according to engineering drawings and design specifications.
    • Interpret complex material specifications and engineering drawings to verify compliance with design requirements, quality standards, and customer expectations.
    • Identify material requirements and request supplies promptly to maintain continuous production workflow.
    • Complete regulatory documentation and installation records in accordance with the company Repair Station Quality Manual (RSQM) and applicable quality standards.
    • Follow departmental safety guidelines while ensuring the proper use of tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment.
    • Maintain a strong working knowledge of company installation procedures, process specifications, and Internal Operating Procedures (IOPs).
    • Provide technical guidance and support to Upholstery Technician Trainees, Upholstery Technician I personnel, and Upholstery Technician II personnel as needed.
    • Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe while supporting efficient shop operations.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    • Physical Requirements & Environment
    • Work in an aircraft hangar environment with potential exposure to varying temperatures and weather conditions.
    • Operate heavy machinery and specialized tools as required for upholstery fabrication and installation.
    • Work in confined aircraft interior spaces.
    • Potentially encounter chemicals or hazardous materials.
    • Experience varying noise levels in the work environment.
    • Sit occasionally.
    • Stand and walk frequently.
    • Drive occasionally, with driving activities occurring less than 10% of the time.
    • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
    • Climb stairs or ladders frequently.
    • Bend and twist at the waist frequently.
    • Crouch, kneel, and reach occasionally.
    • Perform repetitive motions frequently.
    • Talk and hear frequently.
    • Use vision occasionally for work-related tasks.
    • Work indoors approximately 95% of the time and outdoors approximately 5% of the time.
