Job Description

Perform aircraft structural repairs, overhauls, and modifications on P8 aircraft in an MRO facility. Fabricate and assemble metallic and composite components, install fasteners, apply protective finishes, and inspect work against engineering and maintenance requirements. Maintain accurate documentation and follow applicable safety, quality, and regulatory procedures.

    • Must be a U.S. Citizen
    • Education & Job Requirements
    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent and typically 1+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    • 3+ years of experience as an aircraft mechanic; commercial aviation, defense aviation, or a relevant trade apprenticeship will be considered
    • Engineering drawing, blueprint, schematic, and specification interpretation experience totaling 3+ years
    • Proficiency in close-tolerance drilling within .003 and precision measurement within .003
    • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite
    • Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
    • Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, or maintenance manuals
    • Job Duties & Functions
    • Repair and overhaul structures for P8 aircraft
    • Identify fastener types, including rivets, blind rivets, screws, hi-locks, bolts, and lock bolts
    • Interpret blueprints, process data sheets, and maintenance instruction manuals
    • Apply knowledge of cleaning, corrosion prevention and control, polishing, and dry-wash tasks
    • Select appropriate cutting tools for fastener removal and installation using knowledge of common fastener sizes
    • Remove and reinstall access panels and fairings, including removal of damaged screws without damaging surrounding structures
    • Install safety wire and cotter pins
    • Apply aircraft finishes, including primer and paint, Alodine, and sealants
    • Drill close-tolerance holes within .001 and perform precision measurements within .0005 in metallic and composite structures
    • Perform structural repairs and modifications on strike fighters, commercial derivative aircraft, and flight control components
    • Utilize measuring tools, including micrometers, dial calipers, grip gauges, feeler gauges, depth gauges, trimics, and bore gauges
    • Fabricate, locate, trim, drill, ream, and assemble metallic and composite components
    • Modify aircraft skins and other structural components through major and minor modifications
    • Install rivets, blind fasteners, hi-locks, and other specified fasteners in metallic and composite structures
    • Operate Assembly Jigs (AJ), Repair Equipment (RE), and similar fixed tooling to locate parts, trim, shim, final-drill, deburr, and build components to blueprint requirements
    • Complete aircraft technical logbooks, maintenance documentation, work packages, and zonal handovers accurately and within prescribed timescales in coordination with program leads and managers
    • Read and comprehend Airworthiness Directives, Technical Directives, and Service Bulletins applicable to aircraft
    • Communicate technical issues, discrepancies, and other concerns to program leads and managers
    • Execute assigned tasks efficiently while striving for First Time Quality
    • Follow guidance and direction from leads and senior Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)
    • Wear required safety equipment while performing assigned duties
    • Complete required company and statement-of-work training
    • Maintain certifications, licenses, and permits required for assigned work
    • Demonstrate a safe work ethic
    • Conduct detailed tool inventories daily
    • Use basic computer systems, including Microsoft Office, to communicate and complete essential job requirements
    • Support an open and honest reporting culture
    • Report all incidents and occurrences through the company’s Safety Management System
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company processes and procedures
    • Maintain organized, clean work areas using “Clean as You Go” practices
    • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
    • Adapt to work requirements to support on-time aircraft delivery to customers
    • Perform other management-directed duties for the benefit of the company, program, or employees
    • Carry out assigned tasks with little or general supervision at the associate level, or without supervision while assisting others at the experienced level
    • Physical Requirements & Environment
    • Lift and use tools, materials, equipment, and components in a manufacturing environment within the company’s lifting standards: a maximum of 35 lb per person or 45 lb for a two-person lift
