Design Engineer

Job Description

Design major components, functional system elements, and technically advanced prototypes or products. Develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations through design proposals, evaluation of design factors, and coordination with affected organizations. Review layouts and drawings for accuracy, completeness, and conformity to applicable standards and specifications.

• 1st Shift, flexible 4/10 schedule; primarily on-site with possible remote work 1 day per week
• Must be a U.S. Citizen

• Education & Job Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in science (BS)
• 2+ years of experience with CREO
• 2+ years of mechanical or electrical design experience totaling 2 years
• Willingness to learn cable and circuit card assembly (CCA) design and develop into an electro-mechanical engineer
• Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, or maintenance manuals

• Job Duties & Functions
• Design major components, major portions of functional systems, technically advanced prototypes, and promotional or specific products
• Develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations
• Prepare basic data, preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposals
• Investigate design factors, including ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-to-weight efficiency, contractual specification requirements, and cost
• Coordinate with other organizations affected by design development
• Create assembly layouts and detail parts for devices, mechanisms, structures, and products
• Check completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, and specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning
• Identify design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommend design layout revisions or improvements to responsible engineers or designers
