Job Description

Design and develop RF and digital satellite communication systems for commercial, civil, and/or national security programs across the unit life cycle, from internal trades and concept studies through system definition, satellite unit development, and test. Develop and verify multi-rate fixed-point signal processing algorithms, perform waveform development and characterization, conduct performance analysis and trade studies, and support system design, HDL-level design and verification, integration, and testing activities.

• Education & Job Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, including manufacturing engineering technology, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry
• Master’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry may qualify with may qualify with 9+ years of experience
• Demonstrated experience with digital signal processing and digital communications algorithms and techniques, including equalization, turbo/Viterbi coding and decoding, channel estimation, filter design, and resampling theory
• 3+ years of experience with Matlab or Simulink
• 5+ years of experience in core digital communications and signal processing theory
• 3+ years of experience in systems engineering, including requirements definition, allocation, verification, architecture design, and trade design
• 1+ years of experience working with FPGAs or ASICs
• Proficiency in digital signal processing and DSP principles
• Ability to apply systems engineering and analysis practices
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, or maintenance manuals
• Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language

• Preferred Skills
• Experience with laboratory equipment, including oscilloscopes, waveform generators, and spectrum analyzers
• Experience leading teams of engineers
• 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience

• Design and develop next-generation RF and digital satellite communication systems
• Develop and verify multi-rate, fixed-point signal processing algorithms
• Conduct performance analysis of signal processing models
• Perform waveform development and characterization
• Execute trade studies
• Support integration and testing of payloads and spacecraft from unit level through in-orbit operations
• Apply HDL-level design and verification activities
• Perform detailed system design and verification activities
• Lead teams
• Support IR&D activities
• Interact with customers, suppliers, program management, integration and test engineers, and senior technologists
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance
• Work within project assignments spanning internal trades, concept studies, system definition, satellite unit development, and test
