Job Description

Performs engineering duties to support Production during the aircraft maintenance process, including structural repair design and assessment on commercial aircraft during maintenance checks. Supports repair development, technical coordination, documentation, troubleshooting, and compliance activities associated with aircraft maintenance.

    • Education & Job Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or comparable Liaison Engineering experience
    • 5+ years of Liaison Engineering experience
    • 2+ years of experience in a decision-making role
    • 5+ years of experience on commercial aircraft, including B737, B747, B757, B767, B777, B787, DC9/MD-80 Series, MD-90, MD-95/717, DC-10, MD-11, A300, E170, or E190
    • Experience with metallic and composite aircraft structural repair
    • Strong knowledge of aircraft structural design, repair methodology, engineering principles, fabrication practices, and aircraft maintenance operations
    • Working knowledge of engineering drawings, SRMs, maintenance manuals, service bulletins, IPCs, and other aircraft technical data
    • Working knowledge of FAA regulatory requirements and structural substantiation techniques
    • Strong communication, organization, and project management skills
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SolidWorks or AutoCAD
    • Hands-on sheet metal/aircraft maintenance experience desired
    • Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
    • Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, or maintenance manuals
    • Job Duties & Functions
    • Develop repair data packages for submission to OEM/FAA and/or DERs/DARs for approval.
    • Coordinate with aircraft manufacturers, customer engineering departments, Inspection, FAA representatives, and outside service providers regarding proposed repairs.
    • Generate clear and concise repair documentation for work accomplishment.
    • Develop labor estimates for engineering tasks and track estimates against actual expenditures.
    • Serve as the primary technical focal point for assigned customers, including daily status reporting and meetings.
    • Provide technical guidance for structural, powerplant, systems, cabin, and avionics discrepancies affecting maintenance.
    • Support SRM/AMM navigation, IPC interchangeability, AD/SB/STC/modification status, and FAA compliance requirements.
    • Coordinate troubleshooting and corrective actions with maintenance technicians, managers, and foremen to minimize impact to maintenance schedules.
    • Work various shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
