Job Description

Perform soldering, component placement, rework, inspection, and touch-up activities involving surface-mount components. Use microscopes, AOI equipment, X-ray inspection, and rework equipment to identify and correct solder defects and verify component placement. Execute detailed soldering and rework tasks while maintaining focus during extended periods of repetitive work.

• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• $20.00 - $25.00 Hourly

• Education & Job Requirements
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• 5+ years of experience soldering in a manufacturing environment
• Valid IPC-610 Certification, expired or active
• Valid IPC J-STD-001 Certification, expired or active
• Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, or maintenance manuals
• Able to read instructions and identify standard SMT components
• Experience using rework equipment such as hot air pencils, hot plates, and BGA removal equipment (ERSA or other OEM)
• Experience reviewing boards under X-ray to identify solder defects on bottom-terminated components
• Familiarity with Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) equipment to identify solder defects and distinguish false calls from actual defects
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment where overtime may be required

• Preferred Skills
• Experience running, soldering, and tacking down jumper wires on re-design boards

• Job Duties & Functions
• Use a microscope to verify correct part placement and orientation
• Manually align components before soldering
• Perform post-reflow inspection and touch-up
• Identify and touch up poorly wetted solder joints
• Correct solder voids and insufficient solder conditions
• Address solder shorts and bridges
• Inspect misaligned parts and leads
• Identify tombstoned and billboarded components
• Utilize AOI equipment to aid in identifying solder defects
• Distinguish false calls from actual solder defects or issues
• Review boards under X-ray to identify solder defects on bottom-terminated components
