Embedded Software Engineer

Job Description

Design, develop, test, and maintain secure processing applications and high-performance embedded software for mission-critical platforms, including modern and legacy C/C++ code for bare-metal and RTOS environments.

• Education & Job Requirements
• 6+ years of experience with C++ and Embedded Systems
• 5–6 years of professional C/C++ development experience, preferably in embedded or real-time contexts
• 1–2 years of experience developing and executing software verification procedures, including test plans, verification matrices, and compliance reporting
• Proficiency in modern C++ including C++14, C++17, and C++20, and C
• Strong debugging skills with JTAG, SWD, and logic analyzers
• Experience with Git version control
• Ability to diagnose, analyze, and resolve complex technical issues
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
• Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, or maintenance manuals

• Preferred Skills
• Experience with low-level programming for microcontrollers or SoCs without an operating system
• Experience writing drivers for ASICs, FPGA interfaces, and peripheral devices
• Experience with Embedded C/C++
• Experience building and maintaining automated CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar tools
• Experience with C

• development for tooling, test harnesses, or GUI applications
• Familiarity with Xilinx and PolarFire FPGA families
• Working knowledge of Vivado, Libero, Vitis, or SoftConsole development environments
• Experience using Python, Bash, or PowerShell for workflow automation

• Job Duties & Functions
• Write, debug, and maintain modern C++ code for secure processing applications
• Develop and sustain legacy codebases used across multiple projects
• Implement low-level C/C++ software for bare-metal and RTOS environments, including FreeRTOS and VxWorks
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate software with microcontrollers, ASICs, and FPGA subsystems
• Produce firmware, drivers, and hardware-abstraction layers for mission-critical platforms
• Maintain and enhance CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitLab CI
• Use build systems such as CMake and Make
• Automate workflows using Python, Bash, or PowerShell
• Enforce coding standards including MISRA C/C++ and C++ Core Guidelines
• Conduct peer reviews and unit testing using GoogleTest
• Maintain comprehensive software test suites
• Create design documents, interface specifications, and maintenance guides
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives
• Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge across cross-functional teams
