Job Description

Apply an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach to plan, design, develop, and verify complex lifecycle-balanced systems of systems and system solutions. Lead the design and development of space-based communication systems for commercial, civil, and national security programs, including signal processing, waveform development, system design, verification, integration, and test activities.

• Education & Job Requirements
• Bachelor's degree with 14 or more years of experience, Master's degree with 12 or more years of experience, or PhD with 9 or more years of experience
• 3+ years of experience with Matlab or Simulink
• 5+ years of experience in core digital communications and signal processing theory
• 3+ years of experience in systems engineering, including requirements definition, allocation, verification, architecture design, and trade design
• 1+ years of experience working with FPGAs or ASICs
• Experience with Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and digital communications algorithms and techniques, including equalization, turbo/Viterbi coding and decoding, channel estimation, filter design, and resampling theory
• Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, or maintenance manuals

• Preferred Skills
• Experience with lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, waveform generators, and spectrum analyzers
• Experience leading teams of engineers
• 14 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience

• Job Duties & Functions
• Design and develop next-generation RF and digital satellite communication systems
• Develop and verify multi-rate, fixed-point signal processing algorithms
• Conduct performance analysis of signal processing models
• Perform waveform development and characterization
• Execute trade studies
• Support integration and test of payloads and spacecraft from unit level through in-orbit operations
• Support HDL-level design and verification
• Perform detailed system design and verification activities
• Lead teams
• Lead IR&D activities
• Evaluate customer and operational needs to define system performance requirements
• Integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of physical, functional, and program interfaces
• Analyze system architecture to optimize total system of systems
• Incorporate affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance, and other specialty quality factors into a preferred configuration
• Develop, maintain, and identify improvements to requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management, and technology readiness assessment processes
• Interact with customers, suppliers, program management, integration and test engineers, and senior technologists
