Electronics Technician

Job Description

Perform electronics assembly, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, rework, and field service support for advanced underwater mission systems, including printed circuit boards, cable connectors, and wire harness assemblies. Support prototype builds, low-rate production, and field service deployments while coordinating with engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to resolve technical issues and improve processes. Travel to customer or field locations for up to three weeks per assignment to establish workstations, perform on-site repairs, and provide technical support.

• Education & Job Requirements
• Associate’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field, or equivalent military/industry training
• 3+ years of experience with hands-on electronics assembly
• 1 - 2 years of experience with Soldering
• 1 - 2 years of experience with Stripping and Crimping Wires
• Demonstrated expertise in surface mount, through-hole, and BGA soldering
• Proficiency with wire harness manufacturing
• Strong problem-solving capabilities
• Attention to detail and excellent documentation habits
• Able to work independently or within cross-functional teams
• Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, or maintenance manuals

• Preferred Skills
• J-STD-001 certification
• IPC 620 certification
• OSHA safety certification
• Less than 1 year of experience with Electronics troubleshooting
• 1 - 2 years of experience with Tools/Technology
• Experience utilizing digital multimeters for voltage, current, resistance, and continuity measurements while troubleshooting electronic systems
• Experience performing fiber terminations, including LC, SC, and MPO
• Experience with fiber splicing
• Familiarity with fiber power meters and optical time domain reflectometers (OTDR) for link testing and verification

• Job Duties & Functions
• Perform hand soldering on printed circuit boards and cable connectors
• Assemble, crimp, and terminate wire harnesses to engineering drawings and schematics
• Conduct visual and electrical inspections, including continuity and insulation resistance testing, to ensure compliance with quality specifications
• Interpret engineering schematics, wiring diagrams, and bill of materials documents
• Troubleshoot and repair or rework defective assemblies and document corrective actions
• Maintain clean room and ESD-controlled environments while enforcing safety and handling protocols
• Support prototype builds, low rate production, and field service deployments
• Coordinate with engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to resolve issues and improve processes
• Travel to customer or field locations for up to three weeks at a time
• Set up workstations at customer or field locations
• Provide on-site repairs and technical support
• Process final cable assemblies using molding or potting compound injection to create watertight cable barriers

• Physical Requirements & Environment
• Stand, bend, climb, and lift up to 30 lb for extended periods
• Work in clean room and ESD-controlled environments
