Job Description

Design major components or portions of functional systems and technically advanced prototypes while supporting product development and manufacturing operations. Coordinate requirements analysis, configuration determination, design, procurement, assembly, testing, verification, and acceptance activities for electrical and electromechanical test systems and multifunction integrated test equipment. Develop design documentation, hardware requirements, layouts, and technical solutions while coordinating with internal teams, suppliers, customers, and other organizations.

    • Education & Job Requirements
    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education
    • 3+ years of professional experience
    • Hardware development experience
    • Strong technical background with Automated Test Equipment (ATE) or similar systems, interconnect design, and with Creo, Windchill, Zuken, or Pspice
    • Experience with product life cycle activities, including development, deployment, and retirement
    • Issue tracking experience
    • Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
    • Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, or maintenance manuals
    • Preferred Skills
    • 2 - 4 years of experience with Wiring Harness Design, Electrical Testing, and Electronic Component Testing
    • Capability to lead a team responsible for development and testing of integrated test systems and experience as a Subject Matter Engineer or equivalent
    • Experience with Telemetry Data Processing (TDP) and working with RF
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate with small diverse teams in development of technical products
    • Experience reading schematic diagrams and other technical documentation
    • Experience troubleshooting system-level issues
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice
    • Job Duties & Functions
    • Participate in requirements analysis, configuration determination, design, alterations, material procurement, manufacturing, test, and acceptance for electrical and electromechanical test systems and multifunction integrated test equipment
    • Mentor junior engineers and interface extensively with customers and senior leadership
    • Create and update project and process documentation aligned with project requirements
    • Lead the design, procurement, assembly, test, and verification of automated test systems, including data review and trending
    • Develop hardware requirements from subsystem level through locally assigned support equipment test systems
    • Interface with suppliers, customers, and internal design teams to provide cost-effective and low-risk solutions
    • Develop test system design documentation to communicate proposed designs to internal design and business teams, vendors, and customers
    • Support Failure Review Board activities through closure
    • Design major components or major portions of functional systems and technically advanced prototype products
    • Develop basic data and preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposals
    • Investigate design factors including ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-to-weight efficiency, contractual specification requirements, and cost
    • Coordinate with organizations affected by design development
    • Create layouts of assemblies and detailed parts of devices, mechanisms, structures, and products
    • Check completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards and procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning
    • Identify design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies and recommend revisions or improvements in design layouts to responsible engineers or designers
