Job Description

Design and develop RF, digital, and optical satellite communications systems and payload architectures while supporting requirements development, system analysis, integration, validation, and testing. Assignments span concept studies and system definition through satellite development, launch, and on-orbit operations and test.

• Education & Job Requirements
• Bachelor's degree with 14+ years of experience, Master's degree with 12+ years of experience, or PhD with 9+ years of experience
• Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry
• Communications subsystems or units experience or academic background
• Payload design, analysis, development, and/or verification experience or academic background
• Communication
• Struct & Payload Design or Systems Engineering
• Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, or maintenance manuals

• Preferred Skills
• 14+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Background working on satellite or space-based payloads
• Satellite or terrestrial RF and digital communications systems and antenna theory
• Requirements definition and verification
• RF analyses such as G/T, EIRP, gain-loss
• MATLAB/Simulink and C++

• Job Duties & Functions
• Design and develop next-generation RF, digital, and/or optical satellite communications systems and payload architectures
• Support trade studies and generate proposals
• Define and verify space communication unit, subsystem, and system requirements and interfaces
• Conduct system-level CONOPS development, functional analysis, RF and optical performance analysis, and decomposition
• Assist with system-level integration and validation
• Analyze and simulate space communication systems, including link analysis, signal distortion, system capacity, reliability, and performance
• Create analysis tools using MATLAB and object-oriented software platforms
• Develop and verify system algorithms that meet functional and performance requirements
• Oversee the design and build of satellite RF and digital payload units from internal teams and external suppliers that meet defined requirements and interfaces
• Conduct design reviews and requirements sell-off
• Execute system test preparation, execution, troubleshooting, and verification
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance
