Job Description

Designs, develops, tests, and maintains non-embedded software throughout the software lifecycle while translating customer requirements into software products and system integrations. Develops architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs; resolves software issues; and supports software development processes, research activities, and supplier performance.

• Education & Job Requirements
• Bachelor's degree or higher and typically 5+ years of work-related experience
• 5+ years of experience with software development for space systems and ground segments performing command, control, mission planning, and data processing
• 5+ years of experience developing software using Python
• 3+ years of experience with JavaScript, including technologies such as Angular or JQuery
• 3+ years of experience working with TypeScript
• Experience with software development
• Experience leading software development activities in an Agile environment using DevSecOps methodologies
• Ability to lead development activities through design, integration, testing, and deployment
• Ability to build, architect, and consume APIs and backend services
• Ability to create and translate design mockups into functional user interfaces
• Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, or maintenance manuals

• Preferred Skills
• Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree from an accredited course of study in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or another related field
• 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in software development utilizing modern methodologies on government programs
• 5+ years of experience designing and developing intuitive user interfaces featuring real-time 2D/3D geospatial visualization
• 5+ years of experience across the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, coding, integration, and testing
• 5+ years of experience with database technologies, including Postgres and SQL/NoSQL
• 3+ years of experience with Java and FastAPI Python API development
• In-depth knowledge of Command and Control (C2) systems, mission planning, ground systems, and real-time application requirements
• Strong experience using CI/CD pipelines to automate testing, builds, and deployment workflows

• Job Duties & Functions
• Leads, develops, and maintains requirements, architecture, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for high-performance APIs between front-end and back-end software services
• Leads software development activities in an Agile environment using DevSecOps methodologies
• Integrates completed software components into fully functional software systems
• Leads development of critical features and owns the development lifecycle from design through deployment
• Builds, architects, and consumes APIs and backend services as part of the platform ecosystem
• Applies automation, testing, and security practices to software development activities
• Leads code reviews to maintain code quality and enforce established standards
• Creates and translates design mockups into functional user interfaces using modern front-end frameworks and technologies
• Advocates for improvements to product quality, security, and performance
• Provides mentoring and leadership to team members
• Directs work effectively in ambiguous environments and self-directs work as needed
• Reviews, analyzes, and translates customer requirements into initial software product designs
• Develops, maintains, enhances, and optimizes software products and system integration functionalities
• Develops, documents, and maintains software architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs
• Debugs and resolves software issues to support reliability and efficiency
• Handles user inquiries and troubleshoots technical issues
• Analyzes user feedback
• Implements current and emerging technologies, tools, and frameworks relevant to software development
• Develops, establishes, monitors, and improves software processes, tools, and key performance metrics
• Executes and documents software research and development projects
• Advises on software domains, system-specific issues, processes, and regulations
• Performs software project management activities and software supplier management functions
• Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to support product and process compliance
