Job Description

Support structural repairs, modifications, fabrication, and assembly activities for P8 aircraft, metallic and composite structures, flight control components, and related aircraft components while completing required maintenance documentation and supporting efficient, quality-focused aircraft delivery.

    • Education & Job Requirements
    • 3+ years of experience as an Aircraft Mechanic
    • 3+ years of experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications
    • Hands-on experience with close tolerance drilling within .003
    • Ability to precision measure within .003
    • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite
    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
    • 1+ years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
    • Job Duties & Functions
    • Repair and overhaul structures for P8 aircraft
    • Identify rivets, blind rivets, screws, hi-locks, bolts, and lock bolts
    • Read and interpret blueprints, process data sheets, and maintenance instruction manuals
    • Demonstrate knowledge of cleaning, corrosion prevention and control, polish, and dry wash tasks
    • Apply knowledge of common fastener sizes and correct cutting tools for removal and installation processes
    • Remove and reinstall access panels and fairings
    • Remove damaged screws without damaging surrounding structure
    • Safety wire and install cotter pins
    • Apply aircraft finishes including primer and paint, Alodine, and sealants
    • Close tolerance drill within .001
    • Precision measure within .0005 in metallic and composite structures
    • Execute structural repairs and modifications on strike fighters, commercial derivative aircraft, and flight control components
    • Utilize measuring tools such as micrometer, dial caliper, grip gauges, feeler gauge, depth gauge, trimic, and bore gages
    • Fabricate, locate, trim, drill, ream, and assemble metallic and composite components
    • Make major and minor modifications to aircraft skins and other structural components
    • Install rivets, blind fasteners, hi-locks, and other fasteners in metallic and composite structures
    • Properly utilize Assembly Jigs (AJ), Repair Equipment (RE), and other similar fixed tooling to locate parts, trim, shim, final drill, debur, and build components to meet Blueprint requirements
    • Ensure aircraft technical log books, maintenance documentation, work packages, and zonal handovers are completed accurately and within prescribed timescales in conjunction with program leads and managers
    • Read and comprehend Airworthiness Directives, Technical Directives, and Service Bulletins to support effective aircraft maintenance
    • Highlight technical issues, discrepancies, and other issues to the program lead and manager
    • Strive for an efficient work effort in all assigned tasks
    • Strive for First Time Quality on all assigned work
    • Follow guidance and direction from leads and senior Subject Matter Experts (SME)
    • Execute all duties while wearing required safety equipment
    • Complete required company and specific statement of work training requirements
    • Maintain necessary certifications, licenses, and permits as required for assigned work
    • Demonstrate a safe work ethic
    • Lift and utilize tools, materials, equipment, and components in a manufacturing environment within established lifting standards
    • Perform detailed tool inventories daily
    • Communicate using basic computer systems including Microsoft Office as needed to complete essential job requirements
    • Contribute positively to an open and honest reporting culture
    • Report all incidents and occurrences in the Safety Management System
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, company processes, and procedures
    • Maintain a high standard of organization and cleanliness within assigned work areas using “Clean as You Go”
    • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
    • Remain flexible to ensure aircraft are delivered on time to the customer
    • Perform other duties as directed by management for the benefit of the company, program, or employees
    • Assign tasks with little or general supervision at the Associate Level
    • Assign tasks with no supervision and assist others at the Experienced Level
    • Physical Requirements & Environment
    • Lift and utilize tools, materials, equipment, and components in a manufacturing environment within the company lifting standards of 35 lbs maximum per person and 45 lbs maximum for two-person lifting
