Design Engineer

Job Description

Develop mechanical designs, engineering drawings, models, and documentation supporting mechanical ground support equipment (MGSE) used for handling, lifting, testing, assembly, and transportation of mechanical and electrical components. Create and maintain CAD models, production drawings, assemblies, bills of materials, and engineering documentation while supporting design verification, product development, and manufacturing activities. Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to implement design modifications, improve manufacturability, maintain engineering documentation, and ensure designs comply with ASME Y14.5 drafting standards and project requirements.

• Education & Job Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• 3–5 years of experience in mechanical design engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Professional experience using a 3D CAD system such as CREO, NX, SolidWorks, or similar software
• Experience designing or modifying machine tools, tooling, or mechanical equipment
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Experience creating engineering drawings, assemblies, bills of materials, and installation documentation
• Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 engineering drafting standards
• Experience supporting engineering documentation, CAD maintenance, and design verification
• Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and technical documentation

• Experience supporting mechanical ground support equipment (MGSE) design
• Experience creating simplified representations and shrinkwrap models
• Experience supporting cross-functional engineering and product development teams
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability

• Job Duties & Functions
• Develop plans, engineering drawings, models, and installation documentation using CREO or similar 3D CAD software
• Create new parts, assemblies, bills of materials, simplified representations, and shrinkwrap models
• Revise and maintain engineering drawings and CAD documentation
• Support engineering teams by providing design knowledge and technical guidance
• Prepare layout drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.5 drafting standards
• Generate complete production detail drawings for manufacturing
• Implement engineering design modifications to improve product quality and manufacturing efficiency
• Support mechanical ground support equipment designs used for handling, lifting, testing, assembly, and transportation of mechanical and electrical components
• Verify engineering documentation while supporting cross-disciplinary product development activities

• Physical Requirements & Environment
• Work in an onsite engineering and manufacturing environment
• Use computer workstations and CAD software for extended periods
• Maintain attention to detail while developing engineering documentation and technical drawings
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to support product development and manufacturing activities
