Job Description
Perform Durability and Damage Tolerance (DaDT) analyses supporting bomber aircraft repairs, modifications, upgrades, and structural integrity assessments. Execute structural finite element modeling, crack growth analysis, and validation activities while supporting the development of engineering solutions throughout the product lifecycle. Coordinate analytical efforts that ensure compliance with structural methodologies, airframe integrity requirements, and engineering documentation.

- Education & Job Requirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, or Doctorate of Science in Engineering
- 10+ years of experience with Structural Analysis
- 10+ years of experience with fracture, fatigue, and/or Durability and Damage Tolerance (DaDT) analysis
- Able to independently construct, execute, review, and manage structural finite element models in the area of DaDT
- Demonstrate expertise in linear elastic fracture mechanics
- Apply expertise with Paris Law and Spectrum Analysis
- Utilize classic crack growth analysis tools including NASGRO, AFGROW, GROWTH, NASA/FLAGRO, and/or BEAS
- Exhibit strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
- Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, or maintenance manuals
- Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with Boeing Books 1, 2, 3, and 4 with an emphasis on Durability and Damage Tolerance
- Experience with HyperMesh, StressCheck, Abaqus CAE, and/or Nastran
- Familiarity with Lifeworks
- Graduate-level or senior-level coursework in Fatigue and Fracture Mechanics
- Experience validating or verifying finite element model results
- Experience with structural design principles for aircraft primary structures including fatigue, damage tolerance, corrosion, stress analysis, statics, materials strength, material characteristics, and repair techniques
- Experience supporting Boeing commercial derivative aircraft including the 737, 747, 757, 767, and 777
- Job Duties & Functions
- Ensure compliance with structural stress analysis, DaDT analysis, and finite element modeling methodologies
- Perform failsafe analyses, durability life calculations, and damage tolerance evaluations for fracture-critical parts
- Evaluate fleet risk using Single Flight Probability of Failure methods
- Verify structural integrity by developing analytical methods, finite element models, simulations, and analysis tools
- Support compliance with USAF Aircraft Structural Integrity Program (ASIP) requirements for airframe analysis and validation
- Calculate inspection intervals using crack growth rate analysis
- Develop finite element models to determine crack growth coefficients
- Apply appropriate structural loads within finite element models
- Analyze airframe primary structures and load paths using industry best practices
- Support product design through analytical methods and structural simulations across the product lifecycle
- Investigate in-service failures and recommend structural improvements
- Develop analytical processes and tools that improve repair development quality and efficiency
- Lead repair development, integration, and documentation of structural requirements
- Work with minimal direction while supporting engineering program objectives
