Fabrication Specialist B

Job Description

Perform machine setup, machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, tube bending, composite lay-up, and assembly operations following established drawings and requirements. Assemble, repair, modify, and install mechanical, electro-mechanical, avionics, and wire harness components while supporting production and testing activities. Apply coatings, prepare test articles, and complete fabrication tasks on articles of limited complexity.

• Education & Job Requirements
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• 1+ years of work-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Hands-on experience with welding
• Prepare welds using sanding and filing techniques
• Perform precision measurements using micrometers
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, or maintenance manuals
• Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language

• Preferred Skills
• Operate cab cranes
• Safely operate aerial boom lifts and scissor lifts
• Experience with Computer Numerical Controls

• Job Duties & Functions
• Perform machine setup, machining, welding setup, welding, sheet metal fabrication, extrusion, tube bending, and fabrication tasks
• Complete composite lay-up, fabrication, and assembly operations
• Assemble precision mechanical and electro-mechanical components
• Repair, modify, and install power plants and drive trains
• Conduct soldering on electronic and avionics products
• Install wire harnesses and avionics products
• Prepare test articles, fixtures, and data collection devices for testing
• Perform basic organic chemical conversion and paint preparation
• Apply routine organic coatings for corrosion protection and appearance requirements
• Follow established drawings and requirements while working on articles of limited complexity

• Physical Requirements & Environment
• Ability to lift 35 lbs
• Work 100% onsite in New Orleans, LA
• Work overtime as needed
