Job Description

Perform precision hand soldering, component-level assembly, rework, and inspection of electronic and electromechanical assemblies while ensuring compliance with industry standards, quality requirements, and manufacturing documentation.

    • Education & Job Requirements
    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
    • 2+ years of experience with hand soldering in electronics, aerospace, or medical device manufacturing
    • Experience producing reliable, high-quality solder connections that comply with industry standards for electronics manufacturing
    • Proficiency with soldering irons, solder paste dispensing equipment, hot-air rework stations, and de-soldering tools
    • Strong understanding of solder joint reliability, thermal management, and contamination control
    • Excellent manual dexterity, visual acuity, and attention to detail
    • Knowledge of ESD safety practices
    • Ability to document work and report non-conformances
    • Experience with IPC-A-610, IPC-J-STD, and soldering
    • Candidate must successfully complete a medical examination prior to assignment
    • Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
    • Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, or maintenance manuals
    • Preferred Skills
    • Technical certification, including IPC-A-610 or IPC-J-STD-001
    • Knowledge of cleanroom procedures
    • Experience with IPC-2221 and IPC-2222 design standards
    • Familiarity with AS9100 quality management systems
    • Familiarity with ISO-13485 quality management systems
    • Experience participating in process audits
    • Experience performing root cause analysis
    • Experience implementing corrective actions
    • Job Duties & Functions
    • Perform hand soldering, de-soldering, and rework on printed circuit boards, wire harnesses, and mechanical assemblies.
    • Apply approved solder alloys and fluxes to meet IPC-A-610, MIL-STD-883, and ISO-13485 specifications.
    • Inspect solder joints using visual inspection methods and magnification equipment.
    • Conduct functional testing as required.
    • Document completed work in accordance with traceability requirements.
    • Report non-conformances and corrective actions.
    • Calibrate and maintain soldering equipment, including tip cleaning and temperature control.
    • Participate in scheduled workstation cleaning and preventive maintenance activities.
    • Generate and update work instructions, process sheets, and repair logs.
    • Ensure compliance with cleanroom or controlled-environment procedures when applicable.
    • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to improve processes and reduce rework.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives and assist with training new technicians.
    • Physical Requirements & Environment
    • Stand for prolonged periods.
    • Lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.
    • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
    • Work in environments with exposure to solder fumes using fume extraction equipment.
    • Perform work in cleanroom or regulated environments when required.
