Job Description

Perform printed circuit board assembly through manual and selective soldering processes while ensuring compliance with IPC standards and quality requirements. Inspect electronic assemblies for solder defects, verify material specifications, and support continuous process improvements. Execute manufacturing activities in a production environment while maintaining safety, quality, and reliability standards.

    • Education & Job Requirements
    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
    • 2+ years of experience performing solder assembly in a production environment
    • 1 - 2 years of experience with General Assembly
    • 1 - 2 years of experience with Machine Shop operations
    • 1 - 2 years of experience with Soldering
    • 1 - 2 years of experience with Surface Mount Technology (SMT)
    • Proficient with IPC-A-610, IPC J-STD-001, and related IPC standards
    • Demonstrated ability to solder and inspect a range of component sizes, including 0201 through 1206 components, BGAs, and QFNs
    • Experienced with soldering equipment, including soldering irons, hot air guns, reflow ovens, and wave solder machines
    • Strong visual inspection skills using microscopes and automated optical inspection (AOI) equipment to identify defects
    • Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, or maintenance manuals
    • Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
    • Preferred Skills
    • Technical or vocational training in Electronics Assembly
    • Experience with mixed technology boards, including SMT and through-hole assemblies
    • Knowledge of lead-free and RoHS-compliant manufacturing processes
    • Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and yield analysis
    • Strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication skills, and teamwork orientation
    • Detail-oriented approach to manufacturing and inspection activities
    • Job Duties & Functions
    • Perform manual and selective soldering of through-hole, surface mount (SMT), BGA, QFN, CSP, and other electronic component types
    • Conduct visual inspections using microscopes, AOI equipment, and other inspection tools to identify solder defects
    • Apply IPC-A-610, IPC J-STD-001, and IPC-2221/2222 standards throughout assembly operations
    • Verify solder paste, flux, and related materials meet required specifications before use
    • Analyze assembly processes and recommend improvements to soldering methods, tooling, and work instructions
    • Implement approved process enhancements to improve quality and manufacturing efficiency
    • Follow established safety procedures, including proper handling of hazardous materials and required PPE usage
    • Document and support quality and reliability requirements throughout the assembly process

    • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
    • Must pass required Vision/Medical Testing
    • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
    • Work onsite full-time
    • Work schedule is Monday through Thursday, 3:30 PM to 2:00 AM EST
