Job Description

Performs complex coating applications on aircraft structures and components, ensuring compliance with technical drawings, quality standards, and aviation finishing requirements. Works independently to apply advanced paint systems, troubleshoot defects, and support continuous process improvement activities.

    • $39.63 - $46.21/Hourly (BOE)
    • Education & Job Requirements
    • High School Diploma or equivalent required; technical certificate in coatings/painting or related field preferred
    • 4–6 years of aircraft painting experience with documented application of advanced finishes
    • Strong ability to match colors and produce consistent finishes
    • Proficient with advanced spray equipment, mixing systems, and measuring tools (e.g., wet film/DFT gauges)
    • Solid understanding of paint chemistry and how environmental conditions affect application and cure
    • Thorough knowledge of inspection methods, quality acceptance criteria, and documentation requirements
    • Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, or maintenance manuals
    • Familiarity with aviation painting standards and regulations
    • Demonstrate experience in training and mentoring junior painters and performing quality inspections
    • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
    • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
    • Preferred Skills
    • Technical certificate in coatings/painting or related field
    • Job Duties & Functions
    • Apply complex paint systems, including metallic, high-gloss, specialty, and multi-coat finishes to aircraft structures and components
    • Prepare surfaces through sanding, masking, priming, and multi-stage coating application processes
    • Operate and maintain HVLP and air-assisted spray systems along with other specialized coating equipment
    • Perform touch-ups, refinishing, and blending to restore surface finish consistency
    • Inspect work quality and verify compliance with FAA and company acceptance standards
    • Identify coating defects and implement corrective actions to resolve process issues
    • Document inspections, work orders, and quality control results accurately and completely
    • Coordinate with quality, engineering, and production teams to resolve technical discrepancies
    • Maintain compliance with environmental, safety, and hazardous material handling procedures
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives for coating processes and production efficiency.
    • Physical Requirements & Environment
    • Stand, crouch, kneel, climb, and work in confined aircraft spaces for extended periods
    • Wear required PPE including respirators, gloves, and protective coveralls
    • Lift and handle painting materials and equipment within specified weight limits
    • Work in environments exposed to solvents, fumes, and airborne particulates
    • Follow strict safety, EHS, and hazardous material handling procedures
