Job Description

The Systems Engineer supports the development, integration, and verification of advanced autonomous aircraft systems for the MQ-28 Ghost Bat program using Model-Based Systems Engineering methodologies. The role focuses on system architecture development, requirements decomposition, interface management, and cross-functional systems engineering activities within a digital engineering environment.

    • Education & Job Requirements
    • 7+ years of work-related engineering experience with a Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years of work-related engineering experience with a relevant Master’s degree or PhD (Level 4)
    • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
    • Prior Systems Engineering experience to include, but not limited to, system design, functional decomposition, requirements development, analysis, verification, and validation
    • Experience with MBSE, Cameo/MSOSA, and/or SysML
    • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
    • Preferred Skills
    • Demonstrated experience developing system architectures for complex aerospace vehicles or subsystems using MBSE (SysML/MSOSA)
    • Prior leadership in system architecture or lead systems engineering roles; experience communicating architectural tradeoffs to stakeholders and customers
    • Understanding of various engineering analyses, including affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance, and other specialties, quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success
    • Familiarity with aircraft/flight systems and domain-specific engineering (ME, EE, SW) to evaluate integration impacts.
    • Job Duties & Functions
    • Support and lead system architecture development and decomposition using MBSE (SysML/Cameo) to define interfaces, functions, and allocation across multiple domains
    • Coordinate with cross-functional engineering teams in developing systems to meet program commitments, including support of design reviews
    • Implement MBSE methodologies as part of a broad digital engineering ecosystem
    • Execute Systems Engineering activities, including requirements decomposition, system architecture, system analysis, specification development, trade studies, program planning, interfaces management, risk management, certification planning and execution, verification and test planning, and overall integration
    • Capture Systems Engineering artifacts and technical data within the MBSE model as appropriate
    • Collaborate with Boeing Defense Australia and other Phantom Works entities and partners to support autonomous aircraft system development
    • Support integration and fielding activities for advanced autonomous mission systems
    • Travel up to 10% domestically and/or internationally based on business needs
    • Complete required OJT or formal classroom training as a contingency for assignment
