Job Description
Performs software safety engineering activities supporting the F-22 System Safety program by identifying, analyzing, and mitigating hazards across the software development lifecycle. Conducts safety analyses and coordinates with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with safety standards and risk management requirements.

- Education & Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in STEM Discipline (Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering preferred)
- Full life-cycle experience with system safety analyses, standards, and tools
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects and teams in the resolution of highly complex issues, including direct interaction with senior leadership within the company and customer organizations, and a demonstrated ability to deal with complex and challenging customer and supplier relationships
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience with communicating cross-functionally
- 8+ years of safety-critical software architectural design, coding, or test experience (Flight Controls, Engine Control, Utility (Fuel, Landing Gear, Cooling) Subsystems, Displays, Stores Management)
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language

- Safety-critical software architectural design, coding, or test experience
- Software quality experience
- Experience with software safety requirements across the full development lifecycle, from hazard identification through development to system/software qualification test
- Military or civilian flight experience
- Knowledge of MIL-STD-882, MIL-HDBK-516, ARP-4761, and/or ARP-4754
- Knowledge of FAA and military regulations and processes
- Previous experience writing technical reports on complex subject matter
- Experience with military or government programs
- Knowledge of Statistical Analysis Methods
- Model-based system engineering (MBSE) experience
- Experience working with international customers and suppliers
- Government contract execution experience
- 8+ years of implementing MIL-STD-882, DO-178, IEEE 1228, ISO 26262, ARP-4761, or ARP-4754
- Job Duties & Functions
- Supports software development, test, and release cycles as a safety subject matter expert
- Develops and executes System Safety Program Plans
- Conducts functional hazard, fault tree, preliminary hazard, and software hazard analyses using quantitative and qualitative techniques
- Leads safety efforts and mentors team members to meet technical and schedule requirements
- Coordinates system safety activities with design teams, suppliers, internal stakeholders, and external customers
