Job Description
Performs advanced solder assembly and rework on complex printed circuit boards, including surface-mount and through-hole components, using specialized equipment and inspection techniques. Ensures precision assembly, defect resolution, and compliance with engineering specifications and quality standards.

- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Job Duties & Functions
- Performs high-mix, low-volume assembly of SMT and through-hole components on complex printed circuit boards (PCBs)
- Executes removal, replacement, and repair of bottom-terminated components (QFNs, BGAs, LGAs) using hot-air pencils, hot plates, and other rework tools
- Conducts precise reflow, pre-heat, and cooling cycles to meet component-specific thermal profiles
- Operates and maintains X-ray inspection equipment to evaluate solder joints on hidden pads and verify rework quality
- Interprets engineering drawings, work orders, and Bill of Materials (BOM) to ensure correct component placement and orientation
- Performs in-process quality checks, including visual, AOI, and X-ray, and documents results per quality system requirements
- Troubleshoots solder-related defects, including tombstoning, voids, and solder bridges, and implements corrective actions
- Maintains ESD-controlled environments and follows all safety and compliance procedures
- Contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, including tooling upgrades and process optimizations
- Works under a microscope for extended periods while inspecting and assembling printed wiring boards
