Job Description
Performs precision soldering and reflow operations on surface-mount technology (SMT) assemblies, ensuring defect-free workmanship and compliance with IPC standards in a controlled manufacturing environment.

- Education & Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with 4–8 years of experience or Master’s degree with 2–6 years of experience
- Demonstrated experience in SMT soldering and reflow processes
- Must have documented soldering experience
- Experience performing manual soldering and touch-up using soldering irons, hot-air, reflow, and solder-pot equipment
- Knowledge of solder defect identification, including tombstoning, bridging, voids, insufficient wetting, and solder balls
- Experience conducting visual inspections and working with Automated Optical Inspection systems
- Experience maintaining and calibrating soldering and reflow equipment
- Knowledge of IPC-A-610 and IPC-J-STD standards
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documentation
- Basic computer skills for documentation and system use
- Ability to document defect trends and corrective actions within a quality management system
- Must be able to pass a medical exam as required
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Job Duties & Functions
- Performs manual soldering and touch-up operations on SMT assemblies using various soldering and reflow equipment
- Identifies, classifies, and corrects solder defects to ensure product quality and compliance
- Conducts visual inspections and utilizes AOI systems to verify solder integrity and workmanship standards
- Maintains and calibrates soldering tools and reflow equipment in accordance with quality requirements
- Documents defect trends, corrective actions, and process improvements within the quality system
- Collaborates with engineering, quality, and production teams to support manufacturing and new product introductions
- Ensures adherence to safety, ESD, and environmental protocols during all assembly operations
- Supports continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process efficiency and product quality
- Physical Requirements & Environment
- Performs work in an ESD-controlled manufacturing environment
- Handles small electronic components requiring fine motor skills and visual precision
- Works overtime as required to support production schedules
