Job Description
Performs advanced solder assembly and rework on printed circuit boards, supporting high-mix, low-volume aerospace and defense production while ensuring compliance with IPC standards and quality requirements.

- Education & Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and 4–8 years of experience, or Master’s degree with 2–6 years of experience
- Demonstrated experience in SMT and through-hole soldering on PCBs
- Must be a highly skilled solder assembler with years of direct related experience
- Proficiency in rework and repair of bottom-terminated components, including QFNs, BGAs, and LGAs
- Experience using rework equipment, including hot-air pencils, hot plates, reflow ovens, and specialty stations
- Experience performing X-ray inspection and evaluating solder joint integrity
- Knowledge of IPC-A-610 and IPC-J-STD standards
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, bills of materials, and engineering change orders
- Experience performing board-level verification, including visual inspection, AOI, and functional testing
- Experience working in ESD-controlled and cleanroom environments
- Ability to monitor and document equipment parameters, including temperature and airflow
- Must be able to pass a medical exam as required
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Job Duties & Functions
- Performs SMT and through-hole soldering on PCBs in accordance with work orders and engineering specifications
- Removes, replaces, and reworks electronic components, including bottom-terminated devices, using advanced rework tools
- Conducts X-ray inspection of reworked components to verify solder joint integrity and documents results
- Executes board-level inspections, including visual, AOI, and functional testing to ensure compliance with specifications
- Interprets engineering change orders and bills of materials to support build-to-print manufacturing
- Maintains ESD-controlled and cleanroom work environments in compliance with industry standards
- Monitors and records process parameters, including temperature and airflow during soldering and rework operations
- Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve production issues
- Supports continuous improvement initiatives and recommends process enhancements
- Assists in training and mentoring junior assemblers
- Physical Requirements & Environment
- Performs work in a cleanroom and ESD-controlled manufacturing environment
- Handles small electronic components requiring fine motor skills and visual acuity
- Works extended hours or overtime as required to meet production demands
