Job Description
Avionics Install & Repair Production SupervisorThe Avionics Install & Repair Production Supervisor leads day-to-day avionics production operations, including installation, troubleshooting, repair, and testing of aircraft avionics systems. Oversees workflow execution to ensure safe, timely, and FAA-compliant completion of maintenance and modification activities within a Part 145 repair station environment.
- Education & Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- 5+ years of avionics installation and repair experience in an aviation maintenance or MRO environment
- Identifies, isolates, and repairs issues on installed systems or incoming aircraft with defects
- Prior supervisory or lead technician experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of aircraft avionics systems, including Garmin and Collins Pro Line 21 platforms
- Familiarity with FAA regulations, including Part 43 and Part 145 requirements
- Proficient in reading wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and technical manuals
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational capability
- Preferred Skills
- Experience leading avionics upgrade and modification programs across multiple aircraft platforms
- Background supporting troubleshooting of navigation, communication, flight control, and cabin systems
- Experience working in production environments with WIP tracking and labor coordination
- Job Duties & Functions
- Leads a 5–6 person technical team responsible for specialized tasks and coordinates directly with the customer and the FAA. Provides technical direction to the team and actively participates in troubleshooting when issues are not readily identifiable.
- Supervise avionics installation, repair, and testing activities across multiple aircraft projects
- Coordinate avionics modifications, upgrades, and troubleshooting efforts across production schedules
- Oversee execution of wiring, component installation, system integration, and functional testing
- Review job cards, work packages, and technical documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Guide technicians through complex avionics troubleshooting involving aircraft communication, navigation, and flight control systems
- Assign daily tasks based on skill level, workload, and production priorities
- Provide technical direction, coaching, and hands-on support to avionics technicians
- Evaluate employee performance and support training and development initiatives
- Ensure compliance with FAA regulations, OEM manuals, and repair station quality standards
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance to resolve non-conformities and audit findings
- Monitor work-in-progress to maintain production flow and schedule adherence
- Coordinate with engineering, maintenance, and parts departments to support operational continuity
- Track labor hours, material usage, and project milestones for production reporting
- Maintain accurate maintenance and installation documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Support inventory control of avionics components and consumables
- Provide routine status updates to management on project progress and production performance
- Physical Requirements & Environment
- Work in hangar and production floor environments with exposure to aircraft systems and tooling
- Operate in confined spaces and active maintenance areas as required
- Function in a fast-paced, deadline-driven production setting
