Job Description
The APG Mechanic performs routine and non-routine mechanical maintenance on commercial aircraft, including inspection, servicing, troubleshooting, and repair of airframe systems in accordance with FAA regulations and company standards. Ensures aircraft are returned to service safely and efficiently with strict adherence to quality, safety, and documentation requirements.
- Education & Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- A&P License required
- Minimum of 5 years of heavy commercial aircraft maintenance experience; including B737, B737 MAX, B747, B757, B767, B767, B777, and B787.
- Proficient in troubleshooting aircraft systems
- Experienced in rigging and installation of flight controls
- Skilled in operational checks, engine removal and replacement
- Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English
- Own tools required
- Job Duties & Functions
- Remove and replace aircraft components using specialized tooling and ground support equipment, following technical manuals and supervisor instructions
- Execute routine and non-routine maintenance tasks within established timeframes
- Train and support lower-level mechanics in assigned tasks and procedures
- Maintain tools in serviceable condition and ensure proper storage practices
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment
- Document completed work on OJT forms and submit records to the Training Department
- Complete required training courses as assigned by the Training Department
- Perform additional maintenance tasks as directed by supervision
- Apply knowledge of maintenance procedures, including safety wiring, engine servicing, hydraulic servicing, and aircraft cleaning processes
- Operate ground support and servicing equipment, including power units, water service carts, and towing equipment
- Interpret and follow technical documentation, including job cards, service bulletins, SRMs, and maintenance manuals
- Conduct aircraft system servicing, including fuel systems, APU servicing, and cargo door operations
- Execute aircraft movement and ground handling tasks, including marshaling and towing
- Utilize precision tools, including torque wrenches, ensuring proper calibration and usage
- Follow all applicable FAA regulations and company maintenance procedures for compliance and documentation
- Physical Requirements & Environment
- Maintain mobility to access all areas of the aircraft and perform component removal and installation
- Stand for extended periods, up to 90 percent of the workday, on hard surfaces
- Lift up to 50 pounds as required during maintenance tasks
- Work in environments requiring mental focus, adaptability, and stamina under time constraints
- Operate safely in conditions requiring auditory awareness for hazard recognition
- Function under general supervision with discretion in task execution and problem-solving
