Job Description

The Composite / Bonding Technician is responsible for performing structural repairs on aircraft components using advanced composite and adhesive bonding techniques in a Part 145 repair station environment. This role includes executing composite layups, bonding, curing, and repair processes while ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards. The technician will interpret technical data, operate curing equipment, and support production goals through accurate and efficient workmanship. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the structural integrity and airworthiness of aircraft components.

    • Education & Job Requirements
    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
    • A minimum of 3 years of experience in composite and/or bonding in aerospace, MRO, or manufacturing environments.
    • Experience with composite layups, including wet layup and prepreg.
    • Experience with adhesive bonding techniques.
    • Experience with vacuum bagging and curing processes.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical data, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
    • Familiarity with hand tools, measuring devices, and shop equipment.
    • Experience in an FAA Part 145 Repair Station environment.
    • Knowledge of autoclave and oven cure cycles.
    • Experience with honeycomb panel repair and re-core processes.

    • Preferred Skills
    • FAA Repairman Certificate or A&P License preferred.

    • Job Duties & Functions
    • Perform composite repairs, including layup, bonding, vacuum bagging, and curing of aircraft components.
    • Execute hot bond repairs, structural bonding, and honeycomb or core repairs.
    • Prepare surfaces through sanding, cleaning, and chemical treatment for bonding processes.
    • Set up and operate curing equipment such as ovens and autoclaves.
    • Read and interpret engineering drawings, OEM manuals, and repair specifications.
    • Perform trimming, finishing, and cosmetic work on composite structures.
    • Ensure compliance with FAA Part 145, AS9100, and internal quality procedures.
    • Maintain documentation of work performed, materials used, and process parameters.
    • Follow safety procedures, including PPE, hazardous material handling, and FOD control.
    • Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, and Production teams to meet production goals.
    • Physical Requirements & Environment
    • Work performed in a shop environment with exposure to chemicals, dust, and noise.
    • Ability to lift up to 25–50 pounds.
    • Ability to stand for extended periods.
    • Use of respirators and personal protective equipment is required.
