Job Description

The MP&P Engineer 2 supports the evaluation, development, and qualification of electrical and electronic components, materials, and processes used in aerospace systems. This role involves assisting with requirements definition, supplier qualification, and analysis of component performance to ensure compliance with engineering and regulatory standards. The engineer collaborates with suppliers and internal teams to support design, manufacturing, and maintenance activities. Strong knowledge of electronic components and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.

    • Education & Job Requirements
    • Bachelor’s degree and typically 2 or more years of experience in an engineering classification, OR a Master’s degree with experience in an engineering classification, from an accredited course of study in engineering.
    • Familiarity with basic electronic components, including resistors, capacitors, diodes, inductors, transformers, connectors, and integrated circuits.
    • Knowledge of connectors, wires, and cables, including fabrication and installation of wiring harnesses.
    • Understanding of requirements development, documentation, and component qualification processes.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
    • Ability to work effectively as part of a team within a structured organization.
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

    • Preferred Skills
    • Experience with component evaluation, design, and qualification to industry and military standards, including SAE, Mil-specs, ASTM, and IEEE.
    • Experience with Electrical Wiring Interconnection Systems (EWIS).
    • Experience working with connectors, wires, cables, and wiring harnesses in manufacturing environments.
    • Experience in harsh or high-reliability environments, including aerospace, automotive, medical, or industrial applications.
    • Experience with fiber optic interconnect systems.
    • Experience writing and reviewing requirements for electrical systems and components.
    • Experience with SOWs or ensuring customer deliverables.
    • Experience with electrical component fabrication.
    • Experience with component-level design and part selection, including new designs and alternate substitutions.
    • Experience testing and troubleshooting electrical systems and components.
    • Job Duties & Functions
    • Assist in defining requirements for tools, equipment, materials, parts, and processes.
    • Draft engineering specifications and documentation for deployment of tools, materials, and processes.
    • Evaluate emerging technologies for potential application.
    • Support development and qualification of new tools, materials, parts, and processes.
    • Perform routine tests and audits to qualify suppliers.
    • Conduct analysis to determine performance or failure of materials, parts, or processes.
    • Assist in implementing corrective and preventive actions.
    • Develop computer and production systems to meet user requirements.
    • Apply project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements.
    • Incorporate Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), LEAN, and Quality principles into engineering activities.
    • Evaluate electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical components for repair and design applications.
    • Support subcontractors and suppliers to ensure component qualification requirements are met.
