The MP&P Engineer 2 supports electrical component engineering and obsolescence management activities for aerospace systems, focusing on evaluating, replacing, and mitigating obsolete parts. This role involves forecasting obsolescence, conducting technical analyses, and supporting engineering programs through documentation, reporting, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. The engineer contributes to both legacy and new product development efforts while ensuring compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements. Strong technical knowledge, analytical capability, and communication skills are essential for success.

- Education & Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and typically 2 or more years of experience in an engineering classification, OR a Master’s degree with experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree must be from an accredited course of study in engineering.
- Knowledge of basic electronic components, including resistors, capacitors, diodes, inductors, transformers, connectors, and integrated circuits.
- Ability to research alternate components using data sheets and internet resources.
- Understanding of obsolete parts and evaluation of alternate components.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team within a structured organization.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.

- Experience in military aerospace disciplines.
- Experience evaluating components to industry and military standards, including SAE, Mil-specs, ASTM, and IEEE.

- Experience with component-level design and part selection, including new designs and alternate substitutions.
- Experience in testing and troubleshooting electrical systems and components.
- Experience incorporating Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), LEAN, and Quality principles into engineering processes.
- Job Duties & Functions
- Evaluate alternate replacements for obsolete electrical and electronic components.
- Conduct proactive obsolescence forecasting and monitoring using surveillance tools and supplier data.
- Monitor GIDEP alerts and provide obsolescence status reports to programs and Department of Defense customers.
- Develop obsolescence mitigation strategies and business case analyses.
- Prepare and deliver presentations on DMSMS issues and proposed resolutions.
- Support DMSMS meetings with internal teams and external customers.
- Assist in preparing contractual deliverables and required reports.
- Support management of obsolescence mitigation processes within program teams.
- Collaborate with enterprise teams and subject matter experts.
- Recommend new and alternate electrical components for product development and legacy systems.
- Assist in the implementation of the DoD Parts Management Program (PMP).
- Support identification and mitigation of obsolescence risks.
