- Education & Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience painting V/VIP aircraft (nose to tail).
- Ability to use tools and equipment associated with the aircraft painting process.
- Hands-on experience with standard spray paint equipment, including electrostatic paint guns, cup guns, and HVLP guns.
- Strong buffing and polishing skills of urethanes and acrylic clear coats.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Ability to apply basic math concepts, including algebra, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
- Ability to calculate mix ratios for sealant, filler materials, and paint.
- Ability to become efficient in company technology and software programs.
- Must be able to pass the Pulmonary Function Test to obtain respirator certification and wear a respirator.
- Ability to become certified on a forklift and scissor lift.
- Ability to work flexible hours, overtime, and weekends when necessary.
- Current, valid Driver’s License.

- Job Duties & Functions
- Perform preparation, painting, and detailing of aircraft under minimal supervision.
- Follow standard operating procedures when using sealants, paint strippers, and corrosion-preventive chemicals.
- Operate tools and equipment such as dual-action sanders, hydraulic lift platforms, and paint sprayers according to procedures.
- Mask and unmask aircraft areas to support painting operations.
- Strip aircraft using paint remover, sand surfaces, and seal aircraft as required.
- Wash and prepare aircraft using approved cleaning solutions.
- Prepare surfaces and apply primer for sanding procedures.
- Sand aircraft surfaces and apply top-coat finishes per customer-approved designs.
- Assist in layout and painting of stripes, shapes, and graphics.
- Assist in final detailing of aircraft for customer delivery.
- Maintain and care for shop equipment and tools.
- Work with and follow guidance from management, leads, and higher-skilled technicians, and assist in training less experienced technicians.
- Identify and troubleshoot issues, notifying management of potential concerns.
- Comply with safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and use personal protective equipment as required.
- Assist with aircraft movement in and out of hangars.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
