The Equipment & Tool Engineer 2 supports production engineering by developing, implementing, and maintaining equipment and tooling solutions for aerospace manufacturing environments. This role works directly on the production floor, collaborating with mechanics, safety teams, and toolmakers to improve processes, ensure compliance, and enhance efficiency. Responsibilities include designing tooling concepts, supporting fabrication, managing equipment acquisition, and ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory standards. The position requires strong technical knowledge, hands-on involvement, and a commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

    • Education & Job Requirements
    • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry (e.g., Bachelor’s degree) and typically 2 or more years of related work experience (e.g., Master’s degree). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
    • 1 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    • Working knowledge of ASME Section VIII and related ASME/ANSI codes.
    • Knowledge of NBIC codes Parts 1, 2, 3, and 4.
    • Experience with piping codes such as ASME B31.1 or B31.3.
    • Understanding of pressure vessel fabrication processes and maintenance procedures.
    • Knowledge of material mechanics and behavior under extreme conditions.
    • Experience with non-destructive examination methods such as magnetic particle and ultrasonic testing.
    • Knowledge of welding procedures and testing requirements.
    • Experience applying thermodynamics and fluid mechanics principles.
    • Experience designing autoclaves for composite curing processes.
    • Experience designing quick actuating closures or breech lock door mechanisms.
    • 5 or more years of 3D modeling experience.
    • 5 or more years of GD&T experience.
    • Job Duties & Functions
    • Investigate and develop equipment and tooling concepts and specifications to support aerospace product design and build requirements.
    • Perform tool liaison activities to support tool fabrication and production use.
    • Participate in design reviews, collect requirements, and create or revise drawings and models.
    • Develop specifications and purchase requests for new equipment and tooling.
    • Ensure designs comply with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic, and regulatory requirements.
    • Develop inspection and usage instructions, preventative maintenance plans, and support training development.
    • Manage budgets and schedules to deliver tooling and equipment solutions.
    • Support production operations by interfacing directly with personnel and equipment on the production floor.

    • 100% onsite work environment.
    • Regular and predictable attendance is required.
    • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 8 hours per day.
    • Ability to climb ladders and stairs.
    • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
