Supports maintenance engineering activities across multiple programs, focusing on Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Condition-Based Maintenance Plus (CBM+) requirements. Leads maintenance engineering tasks, performs detailed RCM analyses, and develops optimized maintenance strategies based on system functions, failure modes, and reliability data. The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to analyze operational data, support root cause investigations, and ensure effective maintenance planning and execution. Strong expertise in maintenance engineering, reliability analysis, and technical documentation is essential to support program objectives and compliance requirements.

- Education & Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and typically 5 or more years of experience in an engineering classification, OR a Master’s degree with typically 3 or more years of experience in an engineering classification, OR a PhD degree with experience in an engineering classification.
- Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry.
- Experience with NAVAIR RCM and CBM+.
- Experience with NAVAIR policies, DoD requirements, and industry best practices.
- Experience reading and understanding engineering drawings.
- Experience reading and understanding technical manuals, including Tech Orders, Illustrated Parts Catalogs (IPC), and maintenance manuals.
- Ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.

- Preferred Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field or higher.
- Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) certification by ASQ.
- RCM Practitioner Certification.
- NAVAIR or DoD-specific RCM training courses.
- Experience with GOLD, REDARS, and Haystack systems.
- Experience with commercial and military aircraft systems and modifications.
- Experience applying maintenance manuals, Instructions for Continued Airworthiness, overhaul manuals, drawings, technical orders, and wiring diagrams.
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and systems engineering disciplines.
- Job Duties & Functions
- Lead a team of maintenance engineers to execute NAVAIR RCM and CBM+ tasks.
- Perform detailed RCM studies following NAVAIR and SAE JA1011/JA1012 standards.
- Analyze system functions, failure modes, effects, and consequences to develop maintenance strategies.
- Utilize FMECA and reliability data as inputs to RCM processes.
- Prepare RCM analysis reports with findings, recommendations, and supporting data.
- Identify and recommend preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance tasks.
- Evaluate maintenance task effectiveness, feasibility, and cost implications.
- Support development of maintenance plans and schedules.
- Gather and analyze operational, failure, and maintenance data from multiple sources.
- Validate and refine RCM recommendations using reliability and failure data.
- Support root cause analysis and failure investigations.
