Responsible for analyzing airframe structures for stress and strength requirements, including material selection, stiffness, weight optimization, and overall performance. This role supports structural design development through detailed analysis of composite and metallic structures using classical calculations and finite element tools. The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to resolve design challenges, supports testing and supplier activities, and ensures product reliability and safety standards are met. Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills are essential to support design, analysis, and program milestones.

    • Education & Job Requirements
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience in structural analysis.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
    • Proficiency in Finite Element Analysis using MSC.NASTRAN and Altair Hypermesh.
    • Must have the ability to communicate efficiently and effectively to coordinate design and analysis activities, prioritize tasks, and report status.
    • Must have the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with customers, internal and external suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
    • Must have the ability to work effectively within a team.
    • Must have the ability to prioritize a variety of assignments.
    • Good interpersonal and organizational skills are required.
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

    • Experience in helicopter or tiltrotor structural design, including composites.

    • Job Duties & Functions
    • Support airframe structural designs based on trade studies, research, and analysis.
    • Perform detailed analysis of advanced composite and metallic structures using classical hand calculations and FE tools.
    • Perform static analysis using industry standard calculation methods, e.g., Bruhn, Roark Flabel, and OEM structures manuals.
    • Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, and specialty personnel to resolve problems.
    • Apply scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure design outcomes related to stress, strength, life, stiffness, and weight.
    • Oversee and monitor product acceptance procedures and parameters to achieve reliability and safety standards, e.g., failure analysis.
    • Contribute to project milestones, including creating functional diagrams and system layouts, reviewing drawings and schematics, and defining data structures and interfaces.
    • Execute tasks to cost and schedule requirements.
    • Support the supplier and teammate design activity.
    • Support test activity, including test plan development, execution, and reporting.
    • Create and present design plans and analysis to leadership with supporting recommendations.
