Job Description

Responsible for troubleshooting, testing, repairing, and calibrating aircraft avionics and instrument components in a back-shop environment. Supports an FAA Part 145 repair station performing component-level repair on avionics systems for general aviation, business, and commercial aircraft, including diagnostics, functional testing, calibration, and documentation in compliance with FAA regulations. The technician will repair or replace defective components, maintain organized ESD-safe workstations, and support continuous improvement and quality assurance initiatives. Strong understanding of analog and digital electronics, along with hands-on use of test equipment and schematics, is essential.

    • Education & Job Requirements
    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
    • 3+ years of experience in avionics, electronics repair, or bench technician work.
    • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
    • Hands-on experience with electronic test equipment, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, and avionics test benches.
    • Strong understanding of analog and digital electronics principles, electrical, and electronic theory.
    • Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.
    • Preferred Skills
    • Formal training in Avionics, Electronics, or Aircraft Maintenance.
    • Experience in an FAA Part 145 repair station environment.
    • Familiarity with systems from manufacturers such as Garmin.
    • FCC GROL, NCATT AET, or military avionics training.
    • Soldering and micro-electronics repair experience.
    • Job Duties & Functions
    • Perform diagnostics, repair, and overhaul of avionics components and Line Replaceable Units (LRUs).
    • Troubleshoot faults down to the component level using schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
    • Conduct functional testing, calibration, and performance verification of repaired units.
    • Repair or replace defective components, including circuit boards, connectors, and wiring.
    • Interpret FAA-approved technical data, CMMs, and service manuals.
    • Complete accurate maintenance records and repair documentation in compliance with FAA regulations.
    • Maintain clean, organized, and ESD-safe workstations.
    • Support continuous improvement and quality assurance processes.

    • Shop/bench (non-flightline) environment.
    • Climate-controlled facility at Denton Enterprise Airport.
    • Work performed on avionics components rather than installed aircraft systems.
