Job Description
Supports materials and processes engineering for composite fabrication by developing, qualifying, and improving materials and manufacturing methods for aerospace applications. This role works across lab, production, and engineering environments to resolve material and process issues, support fabrication, and ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards. Responsibilities include test planning, failure analysis, process improvement, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. The position requires hands-on engagement with composite materials and active participation in production support activities.

- Education & Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and typically 5 or more years of experience in an engineering classification, or a Master’s degree with typically 3 or more years of experience in an engineering classification, or a PhD degree with experience in an engineering classification.

- Preferred Skills
- 1 or more years of experience working with composites, elastomers, and associated processing techniques.
- Hands-on lab experience with polymer chemistry analytical techniques.
- Familiarity with materials such as epoxy, cyanate ester, bismaleimide, urethane, polyimide, reinforcements, and adhesives.
- Experience with composite failure modes and failure analysis.
- Experience developing technical specifications, reports, and test plans.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and use Microsoft Office tools.
- Experience creating and delivering technical presentations and briefings.
- Job Duties & Functions
- Apply chemistry, physics, and material science to develop and qualify composite materials and processing methods.
- Provide technical evaluation and material and process support to composite part fabrication.
- Perform root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Create and execute test plans, document results, and contribute to specifications.
- Qualify and approve equipment, materials, and processes.
- Guide material testing activities in laboratory environments.
- Coordinate with design, production, manufacturing, quality, and procurement teams.
- Support integration of new technologies and standardization across product lines.
- Manage test and audit programs while ensuring regulatory and contractual compliance.
- Incorporate EHS, LEAN, and quality principles into daily work.
- Support production operations and maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Travel domestically as required.
