Job Description

Supports operations in Renton, Auburn, Puyallup, and Everett, Washington sites. The candidate will apply fundamental drafting principles and design concept understanding to support real-time solutions to product and process issues, translating engineering concepts into physical parts and assemblies. This role involves collaborating across multiple teams, performing model definition changes, maintaining technical excellence, and participating in a fast-paced, agile production environment, including first, second, or third shifts and occasional weekend or overtime work.

    • Education & Job Requirements
    • An AA degree in a related discipline and typically 6 or more years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • A minimum of 6 years of experience in aerospace design, including experience working with detail and assembly parts.
    • CATIA or equivalent solid modeling experience.
    • Integrated Visualization Tool (IVT) experience.
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

    • Job Duties & Functions
    • Applies fundamental drafting principles and design concept understanding to support solutions to product/process issues as they occur in the fabrication flow.
    • Creates drafted parts and product structures to support operational and quality concerns.
    • Performs model definition changes based on engineering input.
    • Translates conceptual ideas and feedback into physical part geometry and assembly definition.
    • Engages cross-functional teams throughout the life cycle of products to support design changes and improvements.
    • Maintains technical excellence in performing work with career intent to progress into higher technical designer roles.
    • Provides materials and process support to programs and systems design teams throughout the full life cycle of the airplane.
    • Reviews electrical component materials, process specifications, and other engineering documents used to control design, certify, and produce systems hardware.
    • Identifies impacts of non-conformances associated with electrical components and corrective/preventative actions for future avoidance.
    • Conducts engineering lab/failure analysis to determine causes and corrective actions for failed electrical components.
    • Leads evaluation of emerging technologies for potential application to future products.
    • Leads or collaborates with multiple engineering teams, including Design, Stress, Quality, Manufacturing, and Suppliers, to solve materials and process challenges.
    • Produces requirements, specifications, and other documents to manage the deployment of tools, equipment, materials, parts, and processes.
    • Physical Requirements & Environment
    • Work is fully onsite at Renton, Auburn, Puyallup, or Everett, Washington sites.
    • Daily exposure to factory environment, including stairs, trip hazards, high noise areas, chemical hazards (breathing and handling), and entering airplanes during multiple stages of build.
