Job Description

Supports aircraft painting operations by performing surface preparation, masking, and coating activities in accordance with FAA regulations and technical procedures. This entry-level role assists with preparing aircraft surfaces for painting, mixing and applying coatings, and supporting safe operations within the paint shop. The position involves working with specialized equipment and chemicals while maintaining compliance with safety and environmental standards. The assistant works under supervision while supporting efficient paint shop operations and maintaining proper handling of materials and equipment.

    • Education & Job Requirements
    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
    • A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in mechanical, manufacturing, or paint preparation work
    • Ability to follow work instructions and technical procedures
    • Good mechanical aptitude
    • Preferred Skills
    • Auto body or refinishing experience
    • Job Duties & Functions
    • Work safely around aircraft while supporting paint shop operations.
    • Prepare aircraft surfaces for painting, including masking, surface preparation, chemical stripping, and cleaning in accordance with FAA regulations.
    • Mix and apply paint and coating materials using electrostatic and HVLP equipment.
    • Apply livery masks in accordance with engineering designs.
    • Operate machinery safely around aircraft and within the paint shop environment.
    • Use, handle, and dispose of chemicals and materials safely in accordance with state regulations.
    • Physical Requirements & Environment
    • Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds during work activities.
    • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform walking, balancing, bending, reaching, and handling tasks.
    • Ability to climb ladders, sit, stoop, kneel, squat, crouch, crawl, and perform overhead work when required.
    • Ability to work with exposure to chemicals, vibration, and high noise levels in an active shop environment.
