Job Description

Performs aircraft painting and refinishing activities to support aircraft maintenance and repair operations. This role prepares surfaces, mixes and applies coatings, and ensures high-quality finishes in accordance with technical data and established procedures. The painter operates paint shop equipment, maintains tools and facilities, and follows all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

    • Education & Job Requirements
    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
    • A minimum of 1–5 years of experience as a refinishing or paint technician, or 5 years or more of experience as a refinishing technician
    • Advanced knowledge of aircraft paint processes, including mixing materials, using color cameras, operating paint guns, working in paint booths and prep decks, and blending single-stage and clearcoat finishes
    • Experience interpreting PDS sheets, mixing ratios, and adjusting spray guns for various materials
    • Familiarity with hand tools, paint guns, mixing computer, prep deck, and paint booth equipment
    • Ability to pass a respirator fit test and medical evaluation
    • Compliance with company, OSHA, and FAA safety regulations
    • Ability to perform maintenance and cleaning of paint shop equipment and facilities

    • Job Duties & Functions
    • Read and interpret PDS sheets to determine correct mixing ratios and application techniques.
    • Prepare, mix, and spray single-stage, basecoat, clearcoat, primer, anti-static, and sealer finishes.
    • Maintain and clean paint shop equipment, including paint booths, prep decks, and spray guns.
    • Ensure refinishing work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with FAA and company procedures.
    • Perform maintenance, cleaning, and minor repair of shop facilities and tooling as required.
    • Use computer-based systems to document work, review technical data, and perform color-matching tasks.
    • Maintain professional work habits and support a team-oriented work environment.
    • Follow all safety, quality, and environmental standards established by the organization.
    • Physical Requirements & Environment
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform bending, squatting, and standing for extended periods of time.
    • Ability to work in confined spaces or at heights when required.
    • Ability to work with chemicals and wear the required personal protective equipment.
    • Willingness to travel occasionally to customer hangars for off-site paint work.
