Job Description
The Aircraft Cabinetmaker supports the fabrication, assembly, and finishing of aircraft cabinets and wood-surfaced interior components using engineering drawings and technical specifications. The role progresses through multiple skill levels, with increasing independence, craftsmanship, and technical responsibility in aircraft interior manufacturing.

- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English Language.
- Basic Computer Literacy.
- Must be able to work any assigned shift.
- Ability to follow standard safety procedures, use required personal protective equipment (PPE), and comply with 5S and housekeeping policies.
- Level 1
- Preferred Skills
- Technical Certificate in Cabinet Making or related trade preferred.
- Woodworking, wood finishing, or auto body and painting experience in a technical environment preferred.
- Level 2
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in cabinetmaking.
- Basic knowledge of cabinetmaking processes, products, and tools.
- Preferred Skills
- Possess working knowledge of Gulfstream inspection and process specifications preferred.
- Aerospace industry experience preferred.
- Level 4
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in cabinetmaking.
- Advanced knowledge of cabinetmaking processes and products.
- Preferred Skills
- Aerospace industry experience preferred.
- Possess working knowledge of Gulfstream inspection and process specifications preferred.
- Job Duties & Functions
- Level 1
- Learn entry-level technical skills, regulatory requirements, and tooling used in aircraft cabinetmaking.
- Develop technical competency and problem-solving abilities to progress to the technician level.
- Prepare and fabricate furniture components using safety procedures, engineering drawings, tools, and materials, including laminates, veneers, and cap strips.
- Utilize the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks, and sign off on completed work.
- Comply with safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies and use personal protective equipment.
- Ensure aircraft interiors are protected during work activities.
- Assist with the development and implementation of safety and process improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Level 2
- Fabricate furniture and wood-surfaced subassemblies using blueprints, aircraft specifications, and engineering drawings.
- Assemble, pin, and glue cabinet shells and install drawer slides, hinges, latches, and other hardware.
- Apply exterior surface materials such as laminates, veneers, and cap strips.
- Use stationary and hand-held power tools to fabricate or disassemble furniture.
- Comply with all safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies and use personal protective equipment to protect aircraft interiors.
- Use a material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks, and sign off on completed work.
- Work with lead and higher-skilled technicians to develop and implement process improvements using Lean Six-Sigma and other techniques.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Level 4
- Fabricate complex high-quality furniture and wood-surfaced subassemblies using stationary and hand-held tools.
- Interpret material specifications and design/engineering drawings to ensure compliance with customer-approved design samples and engineering requirements.
- Utilize a variety of woodworking tools and techniques.
- Comply with and champion safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies and protect aircraft interiors.
- Work with lead and higher-skilled technicians to develop and implement process improvements using Lean Six-Sigma and other methodologies.
- Use the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks, and sign off work.
- Accept Lead responsibilities when required, mentoring and training lesser-skilled technicians.
- Oversee projects and coordinate task delegation with Lead technicians.
- Conduct safety audits and assist team members in safety audits.
- Assist in maintaining shop equipment and associated JSAs.
- Coordinate with other backshops as necessary and adapt to schedule changes.
