Job Description

In a team-oriented work environment, you will install aircraft parts, components, systems, lines, cables, and associated hardware in assigned areas using required tools, blueprints, specifications, and operational requirements to complete work through final inspection and ensure conformance to specifications. You will perform assembly, adjustment, rigging, and installation tasks while maintaining quality, efficiency, and compliance with safety standards, with responsibilities increasing from basic installations at Level I to advanced troubleshooting, coordination, training, and workload planning at Level III.

    • All levels require a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
    • All levels will accept either aerospace/aviation or equivalent mechanical experience, such as automotive or heavy equipment.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematic diagrams.
    • Ability to perform close-tolerance work and basic drilling, reaming, and ship fitting.
    • Ability to operate hydraulic mule pumps, tools, fixtures, and jigs.
    • Solumina and Smarteam experience preferred.
    • Level 1
    • A minimum of 1 year of aerospace/aviation experience.
    • A&P license may offset the one year of experience requirement.
    • Level 2
    • A minimum of 3 years of aerospace/aviation experience.
    • A&P (FAA Airframe and Powerplant) license preferred.
    • Level 3
    • A minimum of 5 years of aerospace/aviation experience.
    • A minimum of 2 years of Gulfstream aircraft experience preferred.
    • A&P (FAA Airframe and Powerplant) license preferred.
    • Job Duties & Functions for all Levels
    • Assemble, install, and adjust aircraft structural parts and system components.
    • Rig control cables, sectors, linkages, control surfaces, landing gear and doors, engines, cowls, aircraft entry doors, and associated hardware.
    • Install systems lines, valves, ducts, panels, structural components, and associated hardware; ensure leak-free systems.
    • Remove, replace, cut, and fit system components and lines to facilitate repairs.
    • Use a variety of tools and equipment, including permaswage pumps, dies, line cutting tools, wrenches, checking tools, witness gauges, fixtures, and jigs.
    • Ensure quality and efficiency of installations; perform rework as necessary to meet conformity requirements.
    • Update and sign required logs and records, including MIR sheets, DMTs, Crabs, and PCOs.
    • Check own work to ensure defect-free installation prior to final inspection.
    • Maintain a neat and orderly work area; support FOD and 5S programs and comply with all safety regulations.
    • Support continuous improvement processes.
    • In support of aircraft certification and final phase testing, may participate in flight tests as required.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    • Advanced Job Duties & Functions
    • Level II
    • Assist in troubleshooting mechanical and structural problems.
    • May assist in mentoring or instructing junior mechanics.
    • May be required to check the work of junior mechanics prior to final inspection.
    • Skilled in close tolerance work, including drilling, reaming, and ship fitting parts.
    • Operate hydraulic mule pumps, fixtures, and jigs.
    • Level III
    • Perform complex aircraft installations, repairs, rework, and tests requiring full systems knowledge.
    • Train and instruct team members in methods, procedures, blueprint interpretation, and engineering orders.
    • Develop shop aids and resolve production installation issues.
    • Coordinate work with other departments to ensure smooth workflow.
    • Troubleshoot complex mechanical and structural problems.
    • Manage parts control and disposition within the assigned work station.
    • May plan and organize workloads and resource requirements.
    • May serve as acting Team Coordinator as required.
    • Ability to solve dimensional problems using fractions, decimals, and whole numbers.
    • Production Quality training
    • Thorough knowledge of multiple measuring devices and ability to work within specified tolerances.
    • Physical Requirements & Environment
    • Must be willing to work in confined spaces and tight areas and wear a respirator as required.
    • Must be able to climb ladders and stairs, work in small-space restricted areas, and lift up to 50 lbs.
