Job Description

Perform structural analysis of aircraft primary and secondary structures using classical methods and finite element modeling to support aircraft modification and airworthiness requirements. Responsibilities include evaluating structural loads, developing analytical models, supporting design activities, and documenting analysis results. Work collaboratively with engineering teams to support structural design, certification, and modification programs.

    • Education & Job Requirements
    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Civil Engineering, and a minimum of 9 years of related aircraft structural analysis experience
    • Or a graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering with a minimum of 7 years of related experience may be considered.
    • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of related aircraft structural analysis experience.
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience in finite element modeling.
    • Must be a U.S. citizen.
    • Preferred Skills
    • Experience with MSC PATRAN/NASTRAN or FEMAP.
    • Experience analyzing composite aircraft structures.
    • Experience using MATLAB or Mathcad.
    • Experience with FAA and/or military airworthiness requirements.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Job Duties & Functions
    • Perform structural analysis of aircraft primary and secondary structures using classical hand analysis and finite element modeling techniques.
    • Predict internal stresses and structural instabilities in aircraft structures.
    • Generate free-body diagrams of structural load paths.
    • Determine reaction forces, calculate internal loads, and develop shear and moment diagrams.
    • Document and report structural analysis results.
    • Coordinate with mechanical design teams to develop structural load path concepts and structural sizing.
    • Review and approve structural engineering drawings as part of the release process.
    • Provide structural liaison support for aircraft modification activities.
    • Mentor and support less experienced stress analysts.
    • Automate repetitive analytical tasks where applicable.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams within integrated project teams and the Flight Sciences Group.
    • Work overtime as required to meet business objectives.
