Job Description
The Aircraft Parts Painter is responsible for preparing, priming, and applying finish coatings to aircraft parts, components, nacelles, and flight control surfaces in compliance with aerospace-quality standards. This role includes detailed surface preparation, mixing coatings to specification, masking and protecting surfaces, spraying primers, protective coatings, and decorative finishes, performing general equipment maintenance, and ensuring all documentation is completed accurately in accordance with technical data, FAA regulations, and organizational procedures.

- Education & Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- A minimum of 3 years of aircraft painting experience
- Valid driver’s license
- Knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials used in aircraft painting and methods of mixing paint colors
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical publications
- Ability to understand and follow instructions with strong attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Authorized to work in the United States
- Preferred Skills
- Aviation painting experience on fixed-wing or rotorcraft platforms
- Job Duties & Functions
- Research technical data and perform aircraft painting in accordance with maintenance manuals, FAA regulations, and organizational policies
- Clean, sand, and apply chemical solutions to properly prepare and condition surfaces for painting
- Mix and thin paints and coatings to the specified color and consistency requirements
- Mask and protect surfaces not designated for painting
- Spray primers, protective coatings, decorative finishes, and other materials using approved spray equipment
- Perform general maintenance tasks such as equipment upkeep and shop housekeeping
- Strip, sand, mask, and apply insignias, symbols, designs, or markings using stencils, patterns, or spray equipment
- Regulate equipment controls to properly cure and dry coatings
- Set up portable ventilators, exhaust units, ladders, and scaffolding as required
- Ensure all documentation is completed accurately in training records and signed by appropriate leadership
- Physical Requirements & Environment
- Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and reaching
- Ability to lift and handle tools, coatings, and aircraft components
- Work in hangar and shop environments with exposure to chemicals, fumes, and noise
- Flexible to work required hours, including overtime or off-schedule shifts
